What is a Noise Impact Assessment
A Noise Impact Assessment turns “is it too loud?” into clear, defensible answers for planning - whether your scheme creates noise (e.g., plant, venues, servicing, construction) or is exposed to it (e.g., new homes near roads/rail/industry). We measure existing conditions, predict future scenarios, assess significance against UK guidance (BS4142, BS8233, WHO, ProPG, BS5228), and translate findings into lean, cost-effective mitigation so you can design and discharge conditions with confidence.
Building Acoustics
Good acoustic design balances comfort, compliance and constructability. We translate standards (Approved Document E for dwellings, BB93 for schools, HTM 08-01 for healthcare) into buildable details - optimising façade sound insulation alongside ventilation/overheating strategies, and controlling flanking at junctions, penetrations and structural interfaces so targets are met without over-specifying.
We provide clear drawings and performance specs for walls, floors, ceilings and services noise, plus pragmatic alternates for value-engineering (e.g., swapping build-ups or vent types while preserving acoustic performance). On site, we support contractors with do/don’t details and QA checks, and can verify outcomes through pre-completion testing to avoid costly remedials.

Construction Noise and Vibration Modelling
From Section 61 (CoPA) applications to day-to-day compliance, we handle the full workflow: baseline noise/vibration surveys, prediction to BS 5228 (and BS 7385/BS 6472 for vibration), and a monitoring plan that targets real receptors (homes, schools, hospitals, heritage). We deploy unattended Class 1 noise monitors and PPV/VDV vibration loggers with secure power and cellular upload, then stream real-time LAeq, LAmax, PPV/VDV to dashboards with SMS/email alerts. Data are QA’d (calibration checks, drift screening, weather filters), and exceedances trigger pre-agreed actions—plant swaps, acoustic screening, sequencing tweaks, or method changes—so issues are fixed before complaints escalate.
We keep the paperwork and people aligned: scope with EHO agreed upfront, consent-ready prediction and method statements, weekly summaries and an exceedance log mapped to site activities, plus a simple community comms pack. Need to adjust the works? We prepare s61 variations, update RAMS, and evidence mitigation effectiveness with before/after trends. Result: transparent compliance, fewer stoppages, and a clear audit trail that protects programme and reputation.
Noise Modelling & Monitoring
We predict and measure together for decisions you can trust. Our team builds 3D noise models (e.g., roads, rail, plant, servicing, events) and calibrates them with Class 1 baseline surveys. We assess significance against BS4142, BS8233, WHO, ProPG and test mitigation options—layout, barriers, plant specifications, glazing/vent strategies—showing the benefit with clear contour plots, façade results and receiver tables for planning conditions and design teams.
